Chapters 16 and 17 Summary

When Marnie wakes, she discovers that Law is in bed with her. She studies him and he says that he's been there all night but has slept little. Law seduces her and Marnie gives in. After the sex, they both drift back off to sleep. The next time they awake, it's because Venus is scratching at the door. Law gets up first and Marnie follows. She's halfway down the hall when she pushes open a bedroom door to find all David's things in the room. She also sees a television set and other material things that she could never provide for him. She says that she'd thought they had an understanding about the gifts and Law asks if he was supposed to take back the things that he'd already given David......
