Fleur Talbot

The main character of the story; the novel is told through her eyes and is written as her memoirs. Fleur is an avid reader and up-and-coming writer who lives in a tiny room filled with books. She is content with her place in life and makes the best of her position at the Autobiographical Association by making comical additions to the members' memoirs. Throughout her employment, Fleur has been working on a novel she calls Warrender Chase. The novel is her pride and joy and she works on it faithfully until it was completed.
