Chapters 16 through 20 Summary

In chapter sixteen, Ruby is at the mall kiosk one day when Harriett asks her to pass a message to Nate to have Mr. Cross call her. Harriett has handed over access to her bank account to Mr. Cross and says the balance isn't what she'd thought it should be. When Ruby gets home that day, she discovers that Cora is cleaning up after Roscoe. Cora says they generally lock the doggie door while they're gone and that Nate usually walks Roscoe, but apparently didn't on this particular day.

In chapter seventeen, Ruby is making a final push to prepare for her calculus test. Gervais says his method is proven and guarantees an A if Ruby follows his advice. She's skeptical but agrees.
