Chapter 13 Summary

In chapter thirteen, on Christmas day the family opens gifts. Ruby has a new laptop and some other items. On that day, Cora discovers she's again not pregnant. Cora tells Ruby she knows she should be happy with her life. Jamie is a wonderful husband and they have a wonderful house, but she admits that she really wants a baby. Ruby's understanding is unexpected and brings the sisters closer together.

On Christmas day, Ruby answers the door to find Gervais on her steps. He says he knows she is struggling to pass calculus and that a great deal of her grade rests on the results of a test in March.
