Chapters 7 and 8 Summary

In Chapter 7, the cops take Marcus to their car. The officers tell him they are watching him because his BART pass shows he's been riding to strange places at strange hours. Marcus is angered because his subway pass has been used to help the government spy on him. The police tell him they use the system to catch drug dealers and terrorists. They decide to take him home so that they can talk to his parents. When Marcus makes a comment about his parents being interested to know where their tax dollars are being spent, the cops get angry. When they threaten to take him to jail, Marcus apologizes. At his home, the first question the cops have for Marcus' mother is whether or not she is a U.S. citizen, which puts her in a smart aleck mood. Marcus wants...
