Chapters 5 and 6 Summary

In Chapter 5, the person hugging Marcus is Vanessa. Jolu is there too. Darryl is the only one who is not with them. They cry because they don't expect they will ever see him again. They sit down at a restaurant to talk and eat. They figure they had been held five or six days. The captors were harder on Marcus than the other two. Marcus believes this was because his captors were being vindictive because he had not been cooperative.

As they are walking home, they buy a newspaper to find out what really happened in their city. Marcus had assumed the Golden Gate Bridge had been blown up when in reality it was the Bay Bridge that had been destroyed.
