Chapter 8 Summary

The night before the coronation, Jonathan must endure the King's Ordeal. Alanna doesn't know what is going on in the Chamber of the Ordeal, but she is glad that she is not in there with him. She begins to have a vision. The Dominion Jewel shines brightly off the doors to the Chamber and it comes closer and closer to her. She is in the Chamber of the Ordeal again. She sees Roger lying on a black stone slab. He tells her to come dance with her, and they dance along the Chamber. Alanna wants to scream, but she knows that screaming is forbidden in the Chamber of Ordeals. She can see the love and madness in Roger's eyes.
