Chapter 4 Summary

Ever since leaving the convent, Alanna has been unable to use her magic to communicate with her brother or to show Coram the image of his love in the fire. She worries about this, but assumes that it is only the great distance. She asks Coram about joining the Voice, but he says that he has been unable to do so since the convent. He also assumes that it is the great distance, but he is just as worried as Alanna is. When Alanna tells Coram that she is likely worrying about nothing, he seems to disagree.

When they arrive at the crossroads and the two mountains that formed the passes into Lumuhu, the group finds an inn nestled at the feet of the mountains. The first pass that Alanna sees is clogged with snow, but still easy enough looking in good weather...
