Chapter 10, The Spell Begins to Break Summary

Mrs. Beaver insists on packing a bunch of supplies before they can leave, including food, clothing, and kitchen utensils. Mr. Beaver keeps urging her to leave it all and just go, but Mrs. Beaver insists. Finally, she is ready and they make their way out of the house, stopping to lock the door since Mr. Beaver thinks it may slow down the Witch's police.

They walk for hours through the night, carrying the parcels that Mrs. Beaver has prepared. At first it seems like fun, but before long Lucy is nearly asleep on her feet. Finally, Mr. Beaver slips into a small hole in a tiny hill that was once a hiding place for beavers. The ground is hard and the space is small, but all five instantly fall.....
