Another aspect of being a zookeeper is getting the animals used to having humans nearby. Pi believes that it is an art to be able to reduce the animals' flight distance or the minimum distance they need from a human before they flee. The flight distance varies from animal to animal. Pi's father had the knowledge and instinct to understand the animals and put them at ease around humans. As a result, he created a zoo of healthy, stress-free, well-socialized.....
