Summary

The Prologue shifts between the perspectives of Strike, Robin and their wedding photographer. As the narrative begins, a photographer is trying to finish taking wedding photos of Robin and Matthew, but is having problems because one of the swans in the background is behaving in a wild manner. Both Robin and Matthew finally agree that they have enough photos and move towards the reception. They fight on the way about Robin’s reaction when she saw her old boss, Cormoran Strike, in the church. Neither one of them sees Strike now, but he is there. Strike wants to ask Robin to come back to work and she wants to ask him to take her back, One of Robin's brothers sees Strike before she does and asks him about the case he just solved.
