Buck and Steve talk about Carpathia and his meteoric rise to power. He is now the newly elected president of Romania, even though they just had an election there eighteen months ago. Buck tries to convince Steve that he should follow the story on Carpathia, but Steve still does not believe that there is anything newsworthy about him yet. Buck is sure that Carpathia, with Stonagal backing him, is up to something big. When Buck tries to reach Dirk, he continues to get his answering machine, which makes Buck suspect the worst.
Rayford once again relives the downfall of his marriage and blames himself for it. He freely admits that he did not value his wife as much as she deserved. While Irene was pregnant, Rayford liked being at work more than he did.....
