Chapter 5 Summary

Buck recalls the reason he even took the flight to London in the first place. His friend, Dirk Burton, worked in the financial district and was a former classmate from Princeton. Dirk tells Buck about a possible conspiracy which Buck sees as a story lead. Dirk is convinced that something is brewing in the financial arena. The rumor is that everyone will make a move to one global currency. Then he tells Buck that the person behind the big move is an American. This influences Buck's decision to visit his friend for more information.

As Buck tries to get a flight to New York and a room at a local hotel, he gets to a phone and dials Hattie to let her know that her family is well. He attempts a call to his father but the lines remain tied up. A woman...
