Chapter 3 Summary

The flight crew and passengers disembark and make their way to the terminal. Buck and Hattie exchange numbers so that he can contact her when he receives news of her family. When Rayford arrives at the Pan Con Club, he calls home and gets the answering machine. As he tries to find a way home, he learns that his first officer had just committed suicide when he learned that his family was among the missing. Rayford and Hattie are able to catch a helicopter ride out to the suburbs to where they live.

Back at the terminal, Buck gets messages from his boss telling him to get to New York any way he can. Steve tells Buck about three upcoming events; the first is a Jewish Nationalist conference in Manhattan about a new world order government, the second is another conference of Orthodox...
