Summary

In "Gabriele Rossini," many weeks have gone by without a call from Visconti, and Frank plans to visit the set of Senso. The film is based on the novella by Camillo Boito; Visconti “needed Tenn to swell the hearts of the viewers, to infuse the dialogue with the passion of the film’s soaring score, and to make the romantic drama at its core as powerful as the war backdrop” (288). The set of Senso had moved north to Vicenza, where Frank and Anja will accompany Tenn. Tenn is “consumed with shame and regret” over his Orpheus draft, and “the ends of seasons always brought on the blue devils” (289).
