Summary

In "Him," Anja flies to Provincetown, Massachusetts on the anniversary of her father’s death, 15 years after she opened the Fredrik A. Blomgren Theater in his name. Anja had funded the Blomgren Theater in Malmö and its first five seasons, and now participates remotely in administrative meetings. In Provincetown, a man named Keith picks her up at the airport. Keith is a costume designer at the Atlantic House Bar, which Anja had chosen as the site for the Call it Joy performance, where Tennessee Williams and Frank Merlo met.

Anja directs the stage configuration as Keith tells her about the bar. Sally, its new owner, “recently purchased the Atlantic House and vows to return it to its former glory, the days when it hosted the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday” (277).
