Summary

In "The Head of the Wolf," Luca drives Frank, Tenn, Jack and Sandro to Testa del Lupo, with the Blomgren women following in Luca’s brother’s truck. In the hotness of the car, Jack complains incessantly, “holding everyone hostage with his constant displeasure” (72). Thinking of Sandro and Jack, Frank wonders “what kept two people together” (72). Tenn says he will introduce Anja to the actress Anna Magnani, if Anja comes to Rome; speaking to Bitte: “the sooner your daughter learns to manage the contempt and subterfuge and mendacity of her fellow actresses, the better off she’ll be” (75). “Tenn went on to script the next fifty years of Anja Blomgren’s life,” and though Anja had turned her face away as if indifferent, Frank knows she is listening (75).
