Chapter 6- 10 Summary

Chapter Six

While Alekhin is at the cabin, Mack is fifty miles away preparing traps. Mack has only been eating berries since the canned food ran out. His strength is running low and he knows he has got to eat some protein soon if he expects to keep moving in these sub-zero temperatures. Mack finally kills a fox with a sling he has made and soon he has also killed mutton for clothing. Mack is still hungry and weak from lack of food and the cold weather and falls asleep. When he wakes up a man, Yakov is pointing an AK-47 at him.

Chapter Seven

Yakov and Mack begin to talk and find that they are both on the run from the Soviets. Yakov can see how weak Mack is from lack of food and helps Mack for a few days. Yakov offers...
