The Village

The main narrative takes place in a village in the English countryside. The name of the village is never revealed to the reader. Pete and the Lloyds each moved to the village from London. Their motives for doing so are never explicitly stated, but it is clear that none of them are very happy there. They are generally treated as outsiders in the community.
