Summary

In Chapter 5, Gorelikov called a meeting in the president’s conference room of the Kremlin which he knew would be unpleasant. Gorelikov introduced to Dominika Major Valeriy Shlykov, of the GRU, a military foreign intelligence service. Dominika sensed the meeting was about Ri and wondered why Shlykov had been invited. Also present was Master Sergeant Iosip Blokhin, of GRU’s special forces used for assassinations. When Dominika saw Blokhin she saw he had bat wings of elemental evil unfurling from his back.

Shlykov indicated he wanted Dominika’s work with Ri shut down immediately. He claimed it interfered with a larger case being run by the GRU. Gorelikov indicated they would talk about the compatibility of the cases another day but did want to discuss changes in the handling of MAGNIT. Gorelikov indicated that Putin wanted MAGNIT handled by an illegal agent instead...
