Summary

In Chapter 3, Miller met her DA (district attorney) Alelah and her advocate Bree to go over the basic facts of the case. Lucas arrived from Philadelphia. Miller notes that they had only been dating for a few months. Prior to this, she had one long-term relationship in high school and into her college years. When this relationship ended, she slept with several men she was not serious about. She listened to the voicemail she had left on Lucas' voicemail, most of which was slurred and incomprehensible. She told Lucas about the assault. Months passed as Miller tried to go on about her life; she did not tell anyone else what was going on with the exception of a friend named Claire, who had been assaulted when she was 18.
