Chapter 14 Summary
The scene opens with the Warden talking on the phone to someone who apparently wants the information on Valentin. The Warden discusses whether Molina's using them, whether he's gone over to Valentin's side, or whether he's just in it to save his own skin. They make a plan to release Molina and hope he will lead them to Valentin's comrades. Then he calls Molina into his office and lets him know he will be released the next day.
When Valentin hears that Molina is being paroled, his first thought is what Molina can do for him on the outside. Molina protests, saying he's not good at that sort of thing, that he doesn't want to end up back in prison. Valentin keeps insisting that he will not be in any danger, and even uses Molina's feelings for him as a kind of motivational tactic.
