Summary

Book Two starts at the Mulago Hospital mortuary on January 5th, 2004. Kamu’s body has been there for five hours, but the assistant thinks he is lucky. Normally, bodies are dumped without being identified. Four others watch the attendant as they open five body refrigerators and roll a corpse onto the trolley to return it to the family. Once again, they believe this person is lucky, as they will be remembered unlike so many others. When he tells the others to check if it is the correct body, the narrator says that Kamu’s right eye stares.

The chapter continues with Suubi who is waiting for a taxi in the city center. She remembers when the rich and poor rode in taxi’s together, but now the rich look upon the others in contempt. She forces...
