Whitefire Palace

Whitefire Palace is Maven’s royal home and the location of the royal court. Mare spends most the novel here in captivity. It is a beautiful and elegant palace, with marble floors and walls, crystal chandeliers, and elaborate furniture. It has an expansive courtyard and overlooks Ceasar’s Square. Despite its elegance, Mare and Iris both find it cold and unwelcoming.

Irabelle

Irabelle is the Scarlet Guard’s first hideout in the novel. It is an underground system of tunnels and bunks made of concrete, repurposed for military operations. It is cold and damp, with icicles forming on the insides of the walls. Cameron compares it to a prison.
