Act 2, Scene 1 Summary

Edmund and Curan, a courtier, meet in Gloucester's castle. Curan tells Edmund that the Duke of Cornwall and his wife Regan are on their way. Curan also mentions that there are rumors of war between the Duke of Cornwall and the Duke of Albany.

Edmund believes the Duke's arrival will work well with his plan to disinherit his brother Edgar. Edgar enters, and Edmund tells him that Edgar's hiding-place has been found out and that he must leave at once. He says that he's heard Edgar has spoken against the Duke of Cornwall, which Edgar denies.

As Edgar and Edmund's father approaches, Edmund draws his sword, telling Edgar that it is a pretense so that others won't find out he's helping Edgar. He asks Edgar to draw his sword as well. The two.....
