Summary

A series of newspaper clippings begin this section: an attack of a pregnant woman, Ms. Edward Schneider, who went into labor immediately after. She claimed to not remember the attack. Then the murder by ax of the grocer Joseph Romano. Police believe robbery to be the motive behind the attacks. Then the newspapers announce that Influenza arrived in the city, with cases in the state totaling 300,000. The trial of Frank Bailey for killing Obitz is postponed due to Influenza. The final newspaper clip states that a bond of 6,000,000 was sold to Hercules and Hibernia to fund the building of the canal.
