Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 4, the focus shifts back to the early days of Dana and Kevin’s relationship. Dana married Kevin four months after they met. Dana’s only argument with Kevin occurred because Kevin expected Dana to type his manuscript, but Dana refused. The couple acknowledged the fact that their families would not like each other, but they got married anyway.

Dana’s narration switched to present day after describing Dana and Kevin’s joyful wedding experience. Dana was lying on the floor of her bathroom, crying out for Kevin. She had just returned to her apartment because Tom had whipped her. Dana took a bath and sprayed ointment on her injuries before planning her next step. She replaced her bag of supplies and began to think about Kevin. She hoped that Kevin would be waiting for her return. Meanwhile...
