Summary

In Chapter 16, narrated by Gwen, Gwen realizes that she has become Absalom’s worst enemy since she has nothing left to lose and no reason to continue to hide. She tells Sam to drop her off in the next town and let Melvin find her. She only wants Sam to promise that he will kill Melvin after she uses herself as bait to lure him out.

Sam pulls off to the side of the road and tells Gwen that if she is telling the truth about her part in the videos, she does not need to sacrifice herself.
