Point of View

The novel alternates between the two main characters' POV's. It goes back and forth between the first person point-of-view perspective of Victor Benucci III and Madeline Falco. Victor is a sixteen-year-old young man who runs away from home after issues escalate at home. The use of the first person allows the reader a window into the tumultuous identity of a sensitive, intelligent teenager trying to figure to who he is in the world. We see Vic struggle between his love for his mom's happiness and her need to move on and his own sadness and need to mourn his father a while longer. We also see how unique Vic is and how much his father has taught him. We see Vic's appreciation for the unique beauty in things.
