Vic

Vic is a 16-year-old boy and one of the main protagonists of the novel. Vic is short for his full name, Bruno Victor Benucci III, after his dad. Vic is a lover of opera, abstract art, and the Mets. Victor is mourning the loss of his dad, who died from cancer two years ago. While Vic's mom is ready to move on, Vic struggles to let go of his dad and is not ready to move on just yet. In addition to losing a parent, Vic is different from other kids in that he has Moebius syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes facial paralysis. He cannot swallow or blink and has trouble drinking from a cup without spilling.
