Part Five/Twenty-Four Summary

Blanchette is starting to think that maybe the birds are happy in their cages after all. Her stutter begins to disappear, and she begins to get her strength back. She has grown very close to her mother during her illness.

Guy LePessoner comes to pay a visit to Katherine. The mobs are moving in closer to London. The king is now in the Tower with Princess Joan, as well as the creators of the hated poll tax, the Archbishop and the king's treasurer. The king has not been able to talk to the peasants due to the mob's threatening behavior. Blanchette feels the king might not be as young as he seems and may know better than his elders.
