Summary

In Chapter 6, 11 months after Larry signs up for kaddish.com, he receives a letter from the assigned student, Chemi, saying that he has completed the Kaddish process. Larry is filled with gratitude, and he also finds himself admiring the student’s enthusiasm for his scholarly religious work. Over the next few months, Larry begins to take an interest in Judaism. He eventually quits his job, enrolls in rabbinical school, becomes a rabbi, and adopts the Jewish name Shuli. He acquires a teaching job at a rabbinical school in Brooklyn, he marries an Orthodox Jewish woman named Miri, and they have children. During these years of reintegration into the Orthodox Jewish community, Shuli feels like he has “rediscovered his one, true self” (46).
