Chapters 17 through 20 Summary

Arielle is on her way to take a shower when she runs into Chad in the hall. He questions her about whether she has finished her homework and the many chores he has assigned to her, then tells her she has only three minutes to shower because the water bill is too high. She stays in the shower 10 minutes to spite him, and on the way back to her room she overhears a converstion in which her mother urges Chad to be less hard on Arielle and he reveals that he was raised by a strict, cold father. He tells Michelle that he has given her and Arielle a lot and can take it all away again, then cuts off the conversation and tells her to go to sleep.
