Chapter 14 begins with Jean stating that she felt it was her responsibility to switch out Tory's Valium for baby aspirin. As she and Zach are discussing this, Zach states that Tory is going to be angry with Jean for doing this. Zach continues by stating that Tory didn't mean to hurt herself. Zach points out that Tory knows how difficult it is to hurt yourself with Valium, that she only took two pills and that she appeared to attempt to time her overdose to stop Zach and Jean from going to the concert. Jean speaks with her Aunt Evelyn, who says that Tory will be fine. She thanked Jean for switching out the Valium for baby aspirin but states that Jean should have told her that Tory was taking drugs.
