It is Sunday in Jerusalem, and the governing Council of Jewish Priests, five adult males of diverse race, are meeting in a darkened room fenced by high windows with bars across them. They sit around an elongated table, illuminated by stripes along the edges and circles in the center. Caiaphas, the high priest, is African American.
