Erlendur

Erlendur is the protagonist of the novel. He is the lead detective in the case and is a middle aged man in Iceland. Erlendur is a seasoned professional with the police force and is known for being a hard man who always gets his way in the department, a reputation that he greatly enjoys for the freedom it gives him. Despite his reputation of being a stubborn person, Erlendur is skilled at keeping a cool head under stressful situations.
