Description

The Spider

The Spider is one of the insects James meets inside the Giant Peach. The Spider is very depressed for most of the novel as every memory brought up on the peach reminds her of one of her family members that was killed by an uncaring human. First, Spider remembers that a few days ago, her dear father was washed down the plughole of the bathtub when Aunt Spiker saw a disgusting spider in her bath. Later in the novel, Spider retells a heart wrenching story about her aunt who was crossing the ceiling of Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker's home after the ceiling had been repainted. Her feet got stuck in the rapidly drying paint, so she was stuck there for over six months.
