Jacob Have I Loved Objects/Places

Chesapeake Bay

Chesapeake Bay is the body of water surrounding Rass Island. It can be considered the source of the Island's livelihood since many of the Islanders are watermen that catch oysters and crab for a living.

Crisfield

This is the mainland closest to Rass Island. The hospital is located here and islanders must travel here by ferry when they are in need of doctors. Islanders must also travel here for groceries.

Rass Island

This is the island where the protagonist and her family live. A small community inhabits the island, which is primarily made up of Chesapeake Bay watermen and their families.

The Ferry House

Captain Billy and his brothers run the Ferry House. The ferry transports passengers and also transports any incoming or outgoing mail.
