Chapter 7 Summary

Since the villagers had brought nothing with them when they believed they were fleeing from the Aleuts, they return to their homes to pack their belongings. Karana tells of the two baskets she fills with her belongings such as whalebone needles, an awl, a stone knife, cooking pots and a shell box filled with earrings. Ulape is more vain and packs her two boxes of earrings and then draws the marks on her face, which means she is unmarried.
