Summary

Part 4 is the shortest part of the novel, at only 18 pages long. It starts in September and ends in January of the following year, 2016. All of the characters are moving on either by moving to a new town, going on vacation, or going to prison in Patrick’s case. Lena starts off this section by talking about leaving Beckford for London, renting out the Mill House, and moving on. The perspective changes to Josh as he talks about saying goodbye to Lena. He mentions how people are gossiping about the possibility that she killed Mark by pushing him over the cliffs near Howick but he dismisses this. The perspective changes to Louise as the family decides to move out of Beckford and she says goodbye to her house. Though Louise feels that she can never forgive Lena, she does admit that Lena loved her...
