Summary

In Chapter 29, the Director's men duct tape Layla's mouth, handcuff her, put a bag over her head, and drag her from her cell. After some walking, she finds herself in an unfamiliar room. The Director enters. Layla tries focusing. The Director again suggests she cooperate. He demands she tell him who has been helping her leak information, convinced one of his guards is a traitor. In exchange he will give her family increased comforts. He urges her to take the deal so no one gets hurt. Layla worries for her parents, but refuses to tell him anything.

The Director rages, blaming Layla for Soheil's death. She cries, but continues to object. He grabs her hair and wrenches her head. Fred enters. The Director gives her one more chance to consider his offer. Fred talks with Layla, assuring her there are other guards on...
