Summary

In Chapter 34, when Mitsuki reached the Hôtel du Lac, she was surprised when the assistant manager at the hotel took a special interest in her. She was pulled off to the side to look at menus from which she could order, a nicety she thought was unusual. The bellhop told Mitsuki they got few long term guests any more, but that she was one of several staying until Christmas.

In Chapter 35, in her room, Mitsuki opened her window and looked at the lake, the same one that her grandmother has seen a century ago. Her grandmother, then the wife of a prosperous man, had been invited to visit the villa of a baron built on that same spot. Mitsuki sensed that her grandmother, a former geisha, would have been uncomfortable in that setting. She eventually left her prosperous husband for a relationship...
