Independence Day Related Titles
It can be said that many of Ford's works are related stylistically and thematically. The archetypal Ford character could be described as a decent man who wresdes with melancholy and has a hard time connecting to anyone else, and this character appears in this novel and the earlier The Sportswriter under the guise of Frank Bascombe, as the main character in the novellas "The Womanizer" and "Occidentals" in Women with Men (1997), and also as the father figure in many of the stories in the collection Rock Springs (1987), in the novel Wildlife (1990) which was published between the two Frank Bascombe novels, and in the novella "Jealousy" from Women with Men.
