Chapter 11 Summary

Irv talks non-stop on the drive in a solicitous effort to take Frank's mind off his troubles. He tells Frank about his job in the flight simulator industry. Irv wants to pick up where he and Frank left off years ago, and tells Frank what a wonderful woman his mom was, and what a character Irv's dad had been. He thinks their parents were lucky to find one another, and shares Frank's mom confession that she wishes she had been closer to Frank after she'd remarried. Irv has tried unsuccessfully several times over the years to find Frank. Further down the road Frank finally realizes that Erma is not in the car. He misses her, thinking that if she were in the car Frank wouldn't have to talk so much or pay attention.....
