Chapter 10 Summary

By eight o'clock Sunday morning, Frank is showered and shaved and ready to start his final day with Paul. They head downstairs for breakfast, but Frank sends Paul ahead so he can make some calls. He calls Ted Houlihan with the good news of the Markhams' readiness to make an offer, but finds out that the house has been sold. The offer is for the full amount, but Ted is willing to reconsider if the Markhams offer more and to split the commission with Frank. Frank blusters about suing Ted, but it's just talk. Ted asks him to send someone down to remove the For Sale sign. Frank agrees, and hangs up on Ted in mid-sentence. He tries to reach the Markhams to give them the bad news, but can't get through.
