Part 2: Chapter 22 Summary

The next day Sam sleeps until noon and when she wakes up, Emmett still is not home. She calls Dawn and asks her to come over. Dawn says she cannot, but she is excited to tell Sam that her boyfriend is talking about getting an apartment and being married, even though she has not told him yet about the pregnancy. She is happy and now thinks everything might work out fine. Sam still thinks Dawn should get an abortion but she keeps her mouth shut.

Sam becomes more worried about Emmett and searches for him in the basement. Suddenly, Irene's red Trans Am pulls into the driveway. She has brought Emmett home. Irene says Emmett just showed up at her house late at night so she decided to drive him back and.....
