Tom and Sam attempt to make love, but he is unable to fulfill the act. He says he has a problem that is "just in his head" that keeps him from making love to her. Sam "had never felt anything so terrible." The situation makes her nauseous. They talk about a pump that he could have surgically implanted to make him able to have sex, but it is expensive. They fall asleep.
