Sam cannot get Emmett an appointment at the V.A. Medical Center for months, so she talks him into going to see some of the specialists Anita has recommended.
Lonnie goes with them to the appointment. Lonnie's brother is getting married and Sam is not looking forward to the wedding. Lonnie is pressuring her to buy a nice gift and she worries that she cannot afford a present. She also worries that by Labor Day, Emmett will be bedridden and she will have to take care of him.
