Part 2: Chapter 5 Summary

Sam and Emmett discuss Irene's new baby. Emmett accuses Sam of being jealous of her half-sister. Sam denies it, saying she is just mad at her mother because she ran out on them. Irene wants Sam to go to the University of Kentucky in Lexington, but she does not want to move in with her mother. She wants to commute to Murry State. Emmett tells Sam that Dwayne wanted her to be named 'Sam;' this news surprises Sam. She then pressures Emmett to go see a doctor about his pimples. She is still convinced they are due to Agent Orange. They watch more M*A*S*H.

Later, Sam confronts Irene during a phone conversation. She demands to know why Irene never told her that it was her father's idea to name her 'Samantha.' She.....
