Chapter 7 Summary
As G., Trumper, and Boy Blue reach the village, they note the street lamps turning on in the dusk of evening. At the center of the village, the boys see a group of worshippers and they keep a respectable distance from the crowd so the spells and spasms of their religious gyrations do not rub off on them. The boys had seen groups like this before and fear the wild dancing and speaking in tongues that always consume the participants. The boys manage to extricate themselves from the situation without reprisal from those who want to save the boys' souls.
The boys turn their conversation to the rising of Mr. Slime in the village as he has aligned himself with the landlord. The speculation in the village is that Mr. Slime will soon control everything when the landlord relinquishes some of his land ownership and political control. The boys discuss...
